Bio: Esther Jantzen
Esther Jantzen is a writer, a career high school educator with a doctorate in
educational leadership, a snapshot photographer, and a three-time Camino de
Santiago pilgrim. She grew up in India as a child of Mennonite missionaries, and is
a mother and grandmother. She has lived and worked in Kansas City, New York,
Philadelphia, Los Angeles, and Albuquerque, NM. As an avid traveler, Jantzen
spent from 2012-2020 as a nomadic house sitter in the western United States.
Currently she shuttles between living in Mérida, Yucatán, Mexico and in
Albuquerque. WALK: Jamie Bacon’s Secret Mission on the Camino de Santiago
(published in 2020) is her first fiction, and one of the only books for young people
about the famous ancient pilgrimage. WALK was Winner in the Juvenile Category
of the New Mexico-Arizona Book Awards for 2021.
